Flagpole maintenance is very important for many reasons but safety is the biggest concert.
We were called to a NYPD Precint for a flagpole repair and this is what we found when we arrived.

This is a roof top flagpole in Brooklyn , NY . The base has a tilt mechanism that has not been used in years. We were called there to rerope the flag via climbing but then we noticed the rust on the support holding the whole counter weight system up.

This happened because the flagpole was not maintained. Steel will eventually rust if it is not properly maintained (painted) . Other contractors were hired to rerope this and other flagpoles which they did but they never mentioned or suggested painting the hardware to the customer and now years later this whole base has to be replaced which will cost thousands of dollars.

When we come to repair your flagpole we are inspecting everything not just reroping the flagpole and leaving. Safety is our biggest concern. If this flagpole fell there are many police cars  that can get damaged or even people getting hurt.
